This coffee was produced by ASPROCAFÉ, an association of more than fifty producing families in the Cohetando indigenous reserve of Páez, Cauca, Colombia.
Páez is a particularly difficult area in which to work because of its proximity to the port of Buenaventura and the notable drug trafficking in the area. The coffee is sourced by our partners at Osito Coffee, and due to the strategic location of their purchasing point in the neighboring community of La Plata, ASPROCAFÉ producers are able to easily deliver coffee to them without putting any Osito staff members in harm's way. That being said, the members of the association also have their own cooperatively-owned bodega inside the Cohetando reservation where dry parchment can be collected prior to delivery to Osito.
The producers who make up ASPROCAFÉ are largely of indigenous descent and their community surrounds the sacred peak of Chumbipe where few outsiders have ever been permitted to visit. The potential for quality in Páez is limitless and the indigenous folk of Cohetando simply need committed buyers to take things to the next level.
This coffee has the depth and richness to make it your next daily drinker, with flavors of red apple, dark chocolate, and fig.
